The Traun in Traunstein

The Traun is a right tributary of the Alz in Upper Bavaria. A river of the same name also exists in Austria.

Course

The Traun is created by the confluence of the White and Red Traun north of victory village. Their names have the two source rivers of the coloring of their water forth: While the White Traun performs very clear water of the Red River Traun is reddish to brownish. This is due to the different source areas: Wooded source reasons the White Traun, boggy the Red River Traun.

The actually called Traun river section has a length of 27.13 km. It runs from victory village mainly in the north and passes it Traundorf ( Acc victory village), Traunstein, Aiging ( Acc Nußdorf in Chiemgau), Traunwalchen (city Traunreut ), Traunreut and Stein an der Traun (city Traunreut ) before at Altenmarkt opens into the Alz.
