Traventhal is a municipality in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein.

Geography and transport
Traventhal is located about 5 km south of Bad Segeberg in a rural location on the River Trave. To the west runs the federal motorway 21 of Bad Segeberg to Bad Oldesloe, north of State Road 206 from Bad Segeberg to Lübeck.
History
1671 has established the Office Traventhal the Danish King Christian V, and shortly afterwards a hunting lodge and, at the beginning of the 18th century, an elaborate palace complex was built in the later. On August 18, 1700 Peace of Traventhal was signed in Traventhal castle.
The manor house was used until 2010 as a retirement and nursing home. Today it houses a café. Since 1999, refer to the former state stud instead of various events in which the resident country museum is open.
From 1866 until its dissolution in 1960, was the Ploen state stud on his Holstein breeding in Traventhal.
From 1 January 1974 to 31 December 1997 Traventhal formed together with small Gladebrügge the town of Gross Gladebrügge.
