Travis Zajac

Travis Zajac (born 13 May 1985 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player standing since 2006 with the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Travis Zajac started his career as a hockey player with the Salmon Arm Silver Backs, for which he was active from 2002 to 2004 in the British Columbia Hockey League. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 in the first round than a total of 20 players from the New Jersey Devils. First, the Canadians spent two years playing for the team from the University of North Dakota, before the 2005/06 season for the first time for New Jersey's farm team, the Albany River Rats played in the American Hockey League. After his debut in the National Hockey League Zajac came in the following three seasons - except in two games - all games in the regular season for the Devils used.

In the 2009/10 season he made 67 scorer points on a new personal record, after he had by then become a regular for the Devils. Mid-March 2011 presented Zajac with 389 consecutive games a new franchise record, previously held by Ken Daneyko. By the end of the season 2010/11 he built his record streak, which began on 26 October 2006, the striker, on 401 NHL games in a row. In the season 2011/12 he came because of an injury only 15 games during the regular season. In the playoffs, in which the Devils reached the Stanley Cup final, he came in 24 games for use.

Internationally

Zajac represented his native country for the first time at the 2009 World Championships in Switzerland. The Canadians penetrated at the World Cup in front of it to the finals, but failed there to defending champion Russia by a 1-2 defeat, so they won the silver medal. Zajac himself came in five games available for use, but remained no points and was awarded two penalty minutes. Two years later he was at the World Championship 2011 in Slovakia again in the squad. Despite sovereign preliminary and intermediate round, the Canadians failed to Russia in the quarterfinals and finished the World Championships in fifth place out of the medals. The striker held during the tournament, the office of the assistant captain. In seven missions he scored a goal and setting up two more before. He also spent two minutes in the penalty box and was the fifth- most successful player at the Bully point of the whole competition.

Family

His brothers Darcy, Kelly and Nolan are also active as a hockey player. While Darcy and Kelly both already for the AHL farm team of the New Jersey Devils - Albany Devils - have played, Nolan is active for the ice hockey team of the University of Denver.
