Treadmilling

Treadmilling as a phenomenon in the polymerization of actin filaments is known in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells.

If the Aktinpolymer has the steady state is reached, a net structure of actin at the positive end of the Aktinfilaments. At the same time carried a net reduction of actin at the minus end of the Aktinfilaments. The length of the Aktinfilaments remains constant. At the same time, there is a net flow of actin monomers. This phenomenon is referred to as treadmilling.
