Treaty of Roskilde

The Peace of Roskilde on 26 Februarjul. / March 8 1658greg. between Denmark - Norway and Sweden. He first led to the resignation of Denmark from the coalition against Sweden under Charles X Gustav in the Second Northern War.

Denmark had to vacate his property in what is now southern Sweden. Sweden was characterized with the landscapes Skåne, Blekinge and Halland ( Skåneland ) access to the Öresund and the Kattegat. Halland had fallen already in the Peace of Brömsebro in 1645 for 30 years at the Swedes. In addition, Sweden won the Norwegian provinces Båhuslen and Trondheim len, Romsdal and the Danish Baltic Sea island of Bornholm.

In the Peace of Copenhagen Trondheim and Bornholm in 1660 went back into Danish possession; but the island Ven passed into Swedish possession.

The Section 9 of the treaty stipulated that the rights, privileges and freedoms of the inhabitants of the ceded to Sweden Danish parts of the country should remain untouched. Nevertheless, established a comprehensive Swedenization Skåne, Blekinge and Halland.
