Treaty of Tartu (Russian–Estonian)

In the peace treaties of Dorpat ( Tartu rahu Estonian, Finnish Tarton rauha ) Soviet Russia recognized the independence of Finland and Estonia. The peace treaties were 1920 in the Estonian town of Tartu ( Dorpat German ) closed.

Estonian - Russian Treaty

The Russian- Estonian Treaty was signed on 2 February 1920. Negotiators were Jaan Poska on the Estonian side and Adolf Joffe for Soviet Russia. Russia recognized Estonia's independence is " for all time " and agreed to pay 15 million gold rubles, according to 11.6 tonnes of gold ( the proportional share of Estonia in the former Russian gold reserves ). The Russian- Estonian border has been set. In addition, the repatriation of spent culture goods to Russia from Estonia was agreed (in particular stocks of the University of Tartu). After Russia deported Estonians should be allowed to return to Estonia and it was decided a mutual disengagement.

Finnish - Russian treaty

In relation Soviet Russia and Finland the Treaty of Dorpat presented one hand, the conclusion of the Finnish independence process, on the other hand, the cessation of hostilities in the context of and as a result the Finnish Ostkriegszüge 1918-1920 dar. After four months of negotiations, the Finnish- Russian agreement was signed on October 14, 1920 ratified. The agreement laid from the borders of Tsarist Grand Duchy of Finland as a limit of the newly independent Finland established.
