Trego County, Kansas

Trego County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is WaKeeney.

Geography

The County is located north-west of the geographic center of Kansas and has an area of ​​2328 square kilometers, of which 28 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Graham County, Rooks County, Ellis County, Ness County Gove County.

History

Trego County was formed in 1879. It was named after Edward P. Trego, a Hauptman H Company of the 8th Kansas Infantry Regiment, killed on September 19, 1863 at the Battle of Chickamauga.
