Treinta y Tres (Eng. " Thirty-three ") is a department in Uruguay.

Geography

It lies in the east of the country, on the border with Brazil, which runs through the Laguna Merín, an elongated lagoon and has an area of ​​9539 square kilometers. It also borders on Cerro Largo in the north, Durazno and Florida in the West, Lavalleja and Rocha in the south. To the west of the department is the ridge of Cuchilla Grande. History

The creation of the department took place in 1884. Naming refers to the so-called 33 Orientals under your leader Juan Antonio Lavalleja.

Population
