Trémoins

Trémoins is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Trémoins situated at an altitude of 381 m above sea level, four kilometers west-southwest of Héricourt and about nine miles northwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the western part of the Burgundian Gate, in a wide valley in the headwaters of Ruisseau de l' Etang.

The area of ​​4.03 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the Burgundian Gate. The central part of the area is crossed from the southwest to the northeast of the basin of the Ruisseau de l' Etang, which rises near the village and provides drainage to Lizaine. Is flanked approximately one kilometer- wide valley in the south-east from the plateau of Laire, which is constructed from limestone of the Upper Jurassic. It is an average of 400 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. History

Is first mentioned Trémoins in the 12th century. In the Middle Ages Trémoins formed its own little rule, which underwent various changes of ownership over the years and in 1687 came to the Principality of Montbéliard. Attractions

The Reformed Church of Trémoins was built in the 18th century. The so-called Château dates from 1557. Center in different houses from the 16th to 18th centuries have been preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté.

Population

With 337 inhabitants (2007 ) Trémoins one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had been in the first half of the 20th century, mostly in the range between 150 and 180 people, a significant population growth was recorded especially during the 1970s.
