Tremona

Tremona was until April 4, 2009, a municipality in the district of Riva San Vitale, in the district of Mendrisio in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

The village eleven miles from Chiasso and the Swiss- Italian border. Worth seeing is the St. Mary's Church from the 17th century and the Romanesque church of St. Agata and the homes of the families Rinaldi Riva and Pollini.

On 25 November 2007, the merger of the municipalities Arzo, Capolago, Genestrerio, Mendrisio, Rancate and Tremona was approved by the voters. They have joined together by April 5, 2009 the new church Mendrisio.
