Tresserve

Tresserve is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

Tresserve is located at 320 m above sea level, near Aix -les- Bains, about 13 km north of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the northwest of the Savoie département, in the foothills at the western foot of Mont Revard, on a ridge above the east bank of the Lac du Bourget.

The area of ​​2.77 km ² large municipality area (excluding Seeanteil ) includes a section on the eastern shore of the Lac du Bourget. The lake shore line is approximately 3.5 miles, with the northern boundary lies on the advanced into the lake alluvial fan of Sierroz. From the shores of the lake community area extends eastward to the ridge of Tresserve and to the east adjoining wide Talniederung of Tillet. History

Finds from the Bronze Age indicate a very early settlement of the municipality. The first mention of Tresserve was in 1340 already under the present name. For later times the names Treserva (1414), Tresserva ( 1497 ), Tresselve (1568) and Troiserve ( 1690) have survived. The place name is composed of the Old French words together tres (beyond ) and reserve (forest ). Until the 16th century Tresserve belonged to the dominion of the La Ravoire family, then it came to the domination of Aix.

Attractions

The village church of Tresserve was built in the 19th century. Other attractions are the castle, the community center, the Maison du Diable, and the tour Bugnard ( Observatory ).

Population

With 3124 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Tresserve belongs to the medium-sized towns in the Savoie département. Since the early 1960s, a striking increase in population was recorded thanks to the attractive residential area. Since then, the population has more than tripled. The settlement area of Tresserve has grown together today almost completely with that of Aix -les- Bains.
