Trevor Bannister

Trevor S. Bannister ( born August 14, 1934 in Durrington, Wiltshire, † April 14, 2011 in Thames Ditton, Surrey ) was a British actor who by the role of Mr. Lucas in the popular British comedy television series Are You Being Served? Became famous for.

Life

Career

Trevor Bannister began with 15 years of acting. After studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, he gave his stage debut in 1960, directed by Lindsay Anderson, in Billy Liar at the side of Albert Finney at the Cambridge Theatre in London's West End.

Bannister began his series appearances on British television in the early 1960s and landed his first recurring roles mid-1960s when Peter Barry in the series Object Z and Object Z Returns. Later he played the role of Darkie Pilbeam, a black market dealer, published in the 1968 television series The War of Darkie Pilbeam, and from 1969 to 1970 he starred as "Heavy Breathing" in Jack Rosenthal's sitcom The Dustbinmen. Shortly thereafter, he was asked the role of Mr. Lucas in the Comedy Playhouse pilot episode Are You Being Served? to play and took the part later in the eponymous television series.

In 2007, he appeared in a leading role as Korbin Thessinger in Doctor Who radio drama adventure Nocturne.

Private life

Bannister was the youngest of three siblings. He has three sons - Jeremy, Simon and Timothy - with his first wife Kathleen. Until his death he lived with his second wife Pamela in Surrey.

Trevor Bannister died on 14 April 2011, at the age of 76 years, after a heart attack at his allotment in Thames Ditton, Surrey, England.
