Trevor Immelman

Trevor Immelman ( born December 16, 1979 in Cape Town ) is a South African professional golfer who plays on the European Tour, the Sunshine Tour and North American PGA TOUR. It belongs to the group of Major winners.

Career

Immelman began with five years to play golf and had a successful amateur career. He won in 1997 the South African Amateur Championship, and the following year the U.S. Public Links Championship and the South African Amateur Stroke Play Championship.

After these quality wins Immelman in 1999 professional golfer. In the 2000 season he played on the European Challenge Tour and qualified as a tenth of the annual ranking for the European Tour. There he occupied until 2005 three times a top 20 place in the European Tour Order of Merit. He posted three tournament victories and in 2004 was the first golfer - since Gary Player in the 1970s - who could defend his title at the South African Open.

In 2003 Immelman won together with his compatriot Rory Sabbatini the WGC - World Cup for South Africa. He was 2005 and 2007 Member of the International Team at the Presidents Cup. Lately he plays more on the PGA TOUR for the Immelman as Presidents Cup player eligibility had attained. In July 2006 he reached there his first victory at the Cialis Western Open by two strokes ahead of Tiger Woods. In April 2008, he achieved his biggest victory at the U.S. Masters in Augusta, one of the four major tournaments.

His caddy is Neil Wallace, who was previously in the service of Ernie Els.

Trevor Immelman is married to his wife Carminita since 2003, has one child and residences in Lake Nona, Florida and Richmond, England.
