Triandria (Greek Τριανδρία ( f sg ) ) is a municipality of the Greek community Thessaloniki in Central Macedonia northeast of downtown near the historic Old Town ( Ano Polis and Eptapyrgos ). From 1934 to 2010 Triandria was an independent municipality, from 1982 as a township ( dimos ).
In the area of Triandra in 1915 Greek refugees from Asia Minor (modern Turkey ) settled for the first time. 1917 found many residents of Thessaloniki, who had to leave the city after the great fire of August 5, 1917 a new ( temporary ) stay in the territory of Triandria. 1919 once again brought together Greek refugees or immigrants from areas of the former Soviet Union after Triandria and settled there. 1922 there was a renewed growth of Triandria by the settlement of Greek refugees from Asia Minor, which in the context of so-called " population exchange " lose after the Greek defeat in the Greco- Turkish War of 1922 their home in Asia Minor. 1929 Triandria has a population of approximately 3,000. Due to the temporary nature of the settlement in the 1920s and 1930s possessed Triandria neither a regulated waste disposal still a sewer or a fixed transport links by road or public transport.
Triandria had 1981 10.637 inhabitants, and 1991 11.822 2001 9.986 inhabitants (all figures according to Census ).
