Tribrach (poetry)

Tribrachys (Greek, triple short, abbreviated: υ υ υ ) denotes an ancient metrical foot of three short syllables, which occurs only as a resolution of the iambic or trochaic metric systems. "Resolution" means that the long syllable of the Versfußes is replaced by two short ones.
