Tribune (architecture)

Tribune referred to a raised platform, for example, speakers at a meeting or a mostly step-like rising for the accommodation of spectators in a stadium or hall.

Grandstands are common not only in permanent buildings such as stadiums. Today's modular design, such as is used at numerous events meanwhile, offers great flexibility, allowing the square, round or oval shapes. At the Grand Prix Formula 1 in Valencia in 2008, for example, nearly 100,000 temporary grandstand seats were of such provided. The Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival with almost 40,000 spectators operated for years this technique. Riser system parts are joined together using connector so that a stable and secure support structure is formed from steel tubes, to which soils inserted and seats are mounted.

The verb tribuere ( dt divided ) contains the prefix tri - (Latin Très ( archaic Tris) - three), because Rome was divided into the three ( Ur) tribes, the tribus of Ramnes, Tities and Luceres, each with a head, the Tribune.
