Tribune Company is an American media company based in Chicago, Illinois. The company is listed on the stock index S & P 500. In 2007, the company employed 20,000 employees.

The main subsidiaries of Tribune Company has nine daily newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Hartford Courant, The Baltimore Sun and the Major League Baseball team Chicago Cubs. The Tribune Company is involved with Time Warner also on the U.S. television network The WB. Many of the 23 television stations (as of 2007) of the Tribune Company affiliated with the WB Network.

August 21, 2007, the shareholders approved the " Tribune Company " for a sale to the multi-billionaire and real estate entrepreneur Sam Zell. The sales amount was set at 13 billion dollars ( 9.7 billion euros ). On 8 December 2008, the Tribune Company bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 has beantragt.und left four years later the insolvency proceedings.
