Trickle charging

The trickle charge (English: trickle charging ) is the charge of a battery ( batteries ) to compensate for its self discharge with the aim to keep the battery in a fully charged state.

The trickle charge is held after the charge of a battery, controlled by the charger. For nickel -cadmium and nickel -metal hydride batteries, the maintenance charge in the form of short current pulses should be done. This process over the trickle charge with a small continuous current the advantage that the risk of dendrite formation is greatly reduced.
