Triens
The triene is a Roman bronze coin.
Their value corresponded to the third part of the Asses, four Unciae.
The front side ( the obverse ) usually shows a Minerva head with a Corinthian helmet, the back side ( the reverse ) a Prora and the inscription " ROMA ". The declared value will be displayed on both sides in the form of points. The unit is delivered under the name ternarius.
Errata
Erroneously use the term " triene " is sometimes also used for a Roman gold coin, the Tremissis ( " Drittelsolidus ") of the solidus.
