Trifluoroacetic anhydride is a low -boiling, pungent-smelling, colorless liquid. Trifluoroacetic anhydride is the anhydride of trifluoroacetic acid and is used as a reagent for the synthesis and derivatization of the analysis.
Representation
TFAA can be prepared by dehydration of trifluoroacetic acid with phosphorus pentoxide. For a large-scale representation but this method is too inefficient.
Use
TFAA can be used as an anhydride for the preparation of esters and amides of trifluoroacetic acid, and thus a possibility to, in pharmaceutical chemistry, to introduce important trifluoroacetyl.
In analytics TFAA is used to obtain the analyte under gas chromatographic conditions stable or volatile.
Safety
TFAA is a highly hygroscopic liquid, resulting in hydrolysis by the highly corrosive and corrosive action of trifluoroacetic acid is formed. The metal drums for storage therefore are lined with a layer of polyethylene.
