Trifolium albopurpureum is a species of the genus clover ( Trifolium ). He is placed in the genus in the section Lotoidea, subsection Neolagopus.

Description

Trifolium albopurpureum is an annual herbaceous plant that reaches the heights of growth between 15 and 45 centimeters. The shoot axis is upright and branched in the upper part dichotomously.

The lower leaves are long-petiolate, the upper shorter. The leaves are dreifiedrig, the individual leaflets between 1.5 and 2.5 centimeters long and 0.8 to 1.5 inches wide. The spreading are obovate to oblong- obovate towards the base narrowing. The leaf margin is finely denticulate. The tip is rounded or notched. The stipules are between 0.8 and 1.5 inches long. They are ovate with a triangular tip. The longer part is free, the shorter one is adherent to the stem axis.

The inflorescences are long stalks and 1.5 to 2 inches high and between 1.3 and 1.5 inches wide. They are broadly ovate to almost round and consist of many, closely spaced single flowers.

The cup is 0.9 to 1.5 inches long and is long haired. It is tubular in the lower 2 mm and 20 - to 30 - annoying. The calyx teeth are 3-6 times longer than the calyx tube, hairy and narrow tapered. The crown is 0.4 to 0.6 inches long and purple. The flag is oblong to ovate with a rounded tip. The pollen are almost spherical.

The legumes are about 3 millimeters long, one seed, broadly elliptical and scattered hairs. The seeds measure by more than 2 millimeters and are yellow in color. The surface is glossy.

The chromosome number is 2n = 16

Dissemination

The distribution area of Trifolium albopurpureum located in North America. It begins in northern Mexico and extends across Arizona, California and Oregon to southern British Columbia.

Trifolium albopurpureum grows on hills and in valleys at altitudes up to 300 meters.
