Triglops metopias

Triglops is a genus of fish from the family of sculpins ( Cottidae ). The species of the genus occur in the northern Pacific coastal Hokkaido (Japan) on the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, the Bering Sea, the Aleutian Islands, the coast of Alaska and to the U.S. state of Washington before. In addition, their range includes the coasts of the Arctic Ocean, Greenland, Iceland and the Atlantic coast of northern Europe. They live at depths of over 1000 meters.

Features

Triglops species are elongated, slender fish with sharp mouths. They reach a length of 10 to 31 cm. Characteristic of the genus are oblique rows of small, fused scales below the lateral line. Head and back are not always beschuppt. The upper sting of Vorkiemendeckels is rounded or slightly bent.
