Trinity Church (Karlskrona)

The Trinity Church ( Trefaldighetskyrkan ) is a city built by the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger 1697-1709 Church in Karlskrona in Sweden. It is one of the most important Baroque churches in Sweden and one of the world heritage sites of the city.

History

The church is an octagonal building with a dome. The model was the Pantheon in Rome. To the market square, the church on a portico with four columns.

In the great fire of 1790, the church was badly damaged. Although she was rebuilt according to the original plans, but with the exception of the dome, which is lower. The design of the interior ( wall paintings and wooden sculptures ) were carried out by Johan Törnström.

The Holy Trinity Church is also German Church ( Tyska kyrkan ) because it was originally the church of the German community in Karlskrona. The name is dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

Equipment

The organ was built in 1827 by Pehr Zacharias beach (Stockholm). The organ case was designed by the architect Carl -Gustaf Blom- Carlsson. The instrument has 22 stops on two manual and pedal works. The tracker action are mechanical.
