Triphenyl phosphite is a chemical compound from the group of phosphonic acid ( esters of phosphorous acid).
Production and representation
Triphenyl phosphite can be obtained by reaction of phosphorus trichloride with phenol.
Properties
Triphenyl phosphite is a colorless flammable solid with phenolartigem odor, which decomposes slowly in water. Its aqueous solution is strongly acidic. He also decomposes when heated, with phosphorous oxides, phosphine, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide produced.
With methyl magnesium chloride it forms trimethylphosphine.
Use
Triphenyl phosphite is used as an antioxidant and chelating agents for synthetic resins, rubber, and industrial oils and greases.
