Triple harp

The Tripelharfe is a string instrument.

She has survived in Wales today. The almost two -meter instrument is tuned chromatically, that is, for each Whole and half tone has its own string, arranged in three levels. The two outer layers are each diatonic, corresponding to the white keys on a piano, the intermediate level corresponds to the black keys and complements the two outer - congenial - levels by the missing semitones to chromaticism. Consequently, the Tripelharfe does not need pedals. It is covered with up to 99 strings. George Frideric Handel wrote his Concerto for Harp and Orchestra of the Welsh Tripelharfe. In Wales also various collections of harp pieces have received. Today will be played on the instrument almost exclusively Welsh folklore, the most famous representative is Robin Huw Bowen.
