Trish Godman

Patricia Godman ( born October 31, 1939 in Govan ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Life

Godman visited the St Gerard's Senior Secondary School in Glasgow. At the age of 15 she left school and worked in various commercial jobs in the following years. After she had trained at Jordanhill College of Education, she spent 15 years working as a social worker in Glasgow's East End. Godman is a member of various trade unions and voluntary organizations, including Amnesty International. She is married to the House of Representatives for the constituency of Greenock and Port Glasgow, Greenock and Inverclyde later, Norman Godman and is a mother of three.

Political career

Godman in 1994 was elected to the District Council of Strathclyde, 1995 in the Glasgow City Council. In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Godman held its first elections to the national level. She applied to the direct mandate of the constituency of West Renfrewshire and could win before the candidate SNP. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 she defended her mandate. Then Godman was elected deputy Speaker of the Parliament. Also in the 2007 parliamentary elections, she defended the direct mandate of West Renfrewshire, this time in front of the Conservatives Annabel Goldie. At the 2011 parliamentary elections Godman no longer went to.
