Trisha Brown

Trisha Brown ( born November 25, 1936 in Aberdeen, Washington) is an American choreographer and dancer.

Life

Trisha Brown studied dance at Mills College in California, a prestigious women's college; She graduated in 1958 with a B. A. from. Brown participated several times at the American Dance Festival part, which took place at that time every summer for six weeks at Connecticut College. There she studied with Louis Horst.

1961 Trisha Brown moved to New York where she was rehearsing with dancer Anna Halprin and 1962, founding member of the avant-garde ensembles Judson Dance Theater was. In this ensemble, she worked with the dancers Steve Paxton and Yvonne Rainer. In 1970, she founded the Trisha Brown Company, which was soon regarded as one of the leading ensembles for contemporary dance. In 2007, she participated with a work at documenta 12.
