Triumph TR2

The Triumph TR2 Roadster was a British car manufacturer Triumph on the basis of 1952 presented at the Geneva Motor Show prototype Triumph TR1. From the first TR -selling model series 8636 examples were built.

History

At the London Motor Show in 1952 the prototype of a roadster was presented with the TS20. This was extremely sluggish to drive and had a top speed of only 130 km / h The British test and race driver Ken Richardson called him a death -trap ( death trap ). The term " TR " for the series came from the abbreviation for the previous experimental triumph, the " TR- X" ( Triumph eXperimental ). The numbers behind the " TR" (TR2, TR3, etc. ) are continuous model numbers.

The engine had four cylinders, was considered robust and achieved an output of 90 hp. For a supplement, Overdrive was available. This was enough for an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.9 seconds. The top speed was 170 km / h The list price was 600 pounds in 1953.
