History

The Triumph TR6 was introduced in 1968. The chassis is still primarily based on that of the TR4. The design of the TR6 was developed by the coachbuilder Karmann in Osnabruck resident after the previous TR- models had been designed by the Italian Giovanni Michelotti, who was no longer available. The hitherto a little playful shape of the TR5 was smooth with the TR6 in the lines.

Until its replacement by the TR7 in July 1976 caused a total of 96 619 copies, making the TR6 Triumph one of the most produced models in the company's history. ( The TR7 was produced about 112,000 times)

(Named PI = Petrol Injection) The European version of the TR6 has a 6 - cylinder engine with 2.5 liter displacement and a mechanical intake manifold fuel injection by Lucas Industries. This makes 143 hp, which are transferred via a 4 -speed manual transmission. Due to the emission regulations in the United States there selling models have an engine with a twin carburettor which makes 98-106 hp. From 1973, the delivered vehicles in Europe received a weaker engine with a throttled to 123 hp. At the front, the TR6 disc brakes and drum brakes on the rear axle.

With the optional hardtop the TR6 could be converted to a Grand Touring coupe (GT ).
