Trixi Schuba

Beatrix " Trixi " Schuba ( born April 15, 1951 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian figure skater, which was launched in a single run. She is the Olympic champion from 1972, the World Champion from 1971 to 1972 and European champion in 1971 and 1972.

At the age of four years Beatrix Schuba was on skates for the first time. Her parents had a wood shop in Vienna's first district. At the age of eleven, she lost her father and helped early on with the business of the mother. Here she worked on successful completion of trade school in the afternoon as an accountant because she trained figure skating in the morning.

From 1967 to 1972 Schuba was Austrian Champion in figure skating ladies. During the same period, she participated in the European Championships and World Championships. In European Championships she landed with the exception of their first participation in 1967 in Ljubljana, where she finished fifth, getting on the podium. 1968 and 1969 she won behind Hana Mašková and Gabriele Seyfert, the Bronze Medal, 1970, she was behind Seyfert European silver medalist and 1971 in Zurich and in Gothenburg in 1972, after the resignation Seyfert, eventually European champion. At the World Championships, she was named after a ninth place in 1967 and a fourth place in 1968, in the years 1969 and 1970 World runner-up behind Gabriele Seyfert. Following the resignation of the East German runner then won the gold medal in 1971 in Lyon, 1972 in Calgary. Schuba represented Austria at two Olympic Games, in 1968 in Grenoble they finished fifth and Sapporo in 1972 she was Olympic champion. Schuba was a very strong obligation figure skater, but just an average Kürläuferin. However, due to the high weighting of compulsory figures in the final result at the time, she was able to offset this again. She was coached by Leopold Linhart.

Schuba went after her Olympic victory in 1972 and before the introduction of the short program, what their chances would have been reduced, only to the American Ice Revue Ice Follies, then to Holiday on Ice. For six years she was with the ice show in North and South America, Europe and Israel go.

After the end of their professional career Schuba worked from 1979 as employees of the Vienna Insurance Group (now Vienna Insurance Group ), where she sang Diplomats and employees of the UNO City Vienna supervised. In 1996, she received the Golden Medal for Services to the Republic of Austria. Schuba from 2002 to 2006 President of the Austrian Figure Skating Association from 2004 until 2009, member of the Austrian Olympic Committee. For the application of Salzburg for the Winter Games in 2014, she worked as an Olympic ambassador. It strives for the promotion of young talents and regrets the existence fringe sport, figure skating in Austria leads now. Trixi Schuba since 2010 Vice-President of the Graz Eislaufverein. Since then it has also OK member Icechallenge, Europe's largest figure skating event at the ISU calendar in Graz. Schuba was instrumental in Graz World Cup bid for the result of the natural disaster in Japan 2011 World Figure Skating Championships canceled.
