Trixie Smith

Trixie Smith ( * 1895 in Atlanta, Georgia, † September 21, 1943 in New York City ) was an American blues singer.

After studying in Alabama Trixie Smith moved in 1915 to New York. She worked in minstrel shows and the TOBA Circuit. In 1922 she made her first recordings for Black Swan Records, including My Man Rocks Me With One Steady Roll, supposedly the first recording that mentions the term " rock and roll ".
