Trochomorphidae

The Trochomorphidae are a family from the suborder of terrestrial snails ( gastropod ). Currently about 100 species of the family are described, which are native to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Features

The housings are trochiform to lens-shaped and of medium size. There are formed 4.5 to 8 turns, the last whorl is angled outward. The shell is formed more or less thick, but still relatively strong. The color varies from light to blackish; often with a darker band. The housing is usually ornamented spirally, with spiral stripes and knots of varying sizes. Radial strips are usually only weakly developed, only very rarely stronger. The mouth is usually flattened with pointed ends. It is usually not reinforced, rarely with transverse Parietallamellen and basal and Palatallamellen. The umbilicus is almost always open, but varies from small and narrow to very wide. Only one genus in the navel is closed. The creeping is usually undivided, only the genus Eurybasis has a tripartite creeping. The rear end of Kriechfußes with mucus gland and Kaudalhorn. In the genital apparatus of the vas deferens enters apically into the epiphallus. A short flagellum may be present. The inner wall of the penis often has a Pilasterstruktur. The free oviduct usually has a perivaginal gland. In contrast, the vagina has no accessory organs. The spermathecae is developed differently in the mold.

Geographical distribution
