Troels Rasmussen

Troels Rasmussen ( born April 7, 1961 in Ebeltoft ) is a former Danish football goalkeeper.

Career

Association

Rasmussen began his professional career in 1980 with Vejle BK. In his first year in the Danish 1st Division he already came to his first stakes in the highest soccer league in Denmark. After two years he moved on to league rivals Aarhus GF. There he became the first-choice goalkeeper and one of the best players at this position in Denmark. Rasmussen won in 1986 with AGF for the first time in 26 years the Danish Championship. With just 22 goals conceded Rasmussen was a guarantee that Aarhus landed at Brøndby IF. No keeper had this season less fall behind as Rasmussen. In 1984 was the goalkeeper with his team runner-up. At that time it was just one point behind champions Vejle BK. National

International Rasmussen completed 35 appearances for Denmark. He participated in the 1984 European Championship in France ( from the semi-final ), the World Cup 1986 in Mexico (off in the second round ) and the 1988 European Championship in Germany ( in the group phase) part. His debut for the national selection was Rasmussen on 22 September 1982 at the European Championship qualifier against England. The game ended 1-1. While he was behind Ole Kjær only the number 2 of the Danes in 1984, national coach Sepp Piontek gave him before the 1986 World Cup confidence and let go into the tournament it as number one. He announced on June 4, 1986 in a 1-0 win against Scotland his World Cup debut.

In the final group match of the group after the next round of the Danes, it was clear Lars Høgh ran for Rasmussen. Høgh convincing 2-0 win against Germany, so that Piontek also in the second-round match against Spain sat on these and Rasmussen was only a spectator.
