Trofeo Costa del Sol
The Trofeo Costa del Sol is a football competition, which is sponsored by the Spanish Federation RFEF and will be held in Malaga, Spain. The Andalusian club CD Málaga organized this for the first time in 1961 and played until 1983 except for the years 1981 and 1982 each summer against Spanish and foreign top teams. Between 1984 and 2002, the tournament did not take place because the first Andalusians were in serious financial difficulties before the club was disbanded in 1992. The successor club of CD Málaga, Málaga FC, since 2003 continues the tradition of the Costa del sol trophy.
Already in the first tournament edition, in 1961, an Austrian club was invited to the Wiener Sport - Club. He finished third, as the only German participants, Borussia Dortmund, in 1964. Borussia however able to secure the trophy in their second participation. They played on 16 January 2008 as a replacement for the displaced in summer 2007 tournament against Málaga CF and won 1-0.
