Troitsk, Chelyabinsk Oblast

Troitsk (Russian Троицк ) is a Russian city in Chelyabinsk Oblast. Its population is 78 372 (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geographical location

The city of Troitsk lies in the flat steppe area east of the southern Ural Mountains, about 120 km south of Chelyabinsk Oblasthauptstadt near the border with Kazakhstan. By Troitsk flow of Ui, a tributary of the Tobol, and the opening into the Ui Uwelka.

The climate is continental. The temperature can drop below -30 ° C in winter and rise above 30 ° C in summer.

History

The city was founded in 1743 as a Cossack fortress on a trade route between Europe and Asia for the protection of the then southeastern border of Russia. Originally, the fort part of the eastern Russian line of defense dar. Later, however, she lost this meaning. Since 1750, annual fairs were held there regularly, which increased the importance of place for trade. In 1784 the town was awarded city rights. Economy and infrastructure

In Troitsk the State Academy of the Ural region is established for veterinary medicine with about 5000 students. There are branches of three other universities and 17 general education schools and high schools with about 7,500 students.
