Trolleybuses in Ashgabat

The trolleybus Ashgabat was the only trolleybus operating in Turkmenistan. Other networks there has never been in the Central Asian state.

The Obusverkehr in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat was opened on 19 October 1964 and closed on 31 December 2011. At the time of independence of the country frequented the seven lines 1, 2, 2A, 3, 5, 7 and 8, however, only the last line 1 was operated electrically.

For use mainly older vehicles came from Soviet production, supplemented by 46 they were more modern cars of the Czech type Škoda 14 Tr, these were financed by the World Bank.
