Trolleybuses in Bergen

The trolleybus Bergen, Norwegian Trolleybuss mountains, is the only trolleybus operation in Norway. Besides the trolleybus Landskrona, he is also one of only two in the whole of Scandinavia. To date, he has been led by three transport companies:

  • Bergen Sporvei AS (until 1998)
  • Gaia Trafikk AS (1998 to 2006)
  • Tide ASA (1998 to present)

The trolleybus system in the city of Bergen was founded in February 24, 1950. Since the 4.1 km long diameter line 5 was converted to bus operation in spring 1995, only the opened on December 1, 1957 radial line 2 is electrically operated. She currently runs between Strandkaiterminalen in downtown (Norwegian Sentrum ) and birch Lund stopping.

After three extensions in the years 1958, 1985 and 2003, the first line reached a length of 6.5 km 2. In the course of setting the line 5 she also received in the inner city is a simplified lines, it was there a block loop through the streets Strandkaien beach and landscaped grounds. In September 2010, the line in the city center had to be shortened somewhat site- related. For turning a provisional block loop through Olav Kyrre gate, Radhusgaten and Christies gate was set up with a final stop in front of the old fire station. From 16 January 2012, the previous block bypass was traversed with the last stop Strandkaiterminalen again. Thus, the line is 2 Today 7.2 km long. Out of town are 23 stations served, towards the center 21 is held times.

The travel time of the line is 2 out of town 32 and 34 minutes into town. It is usually served in a rigid ten- minute intervals in the peak periods, however, reversed the trolley only every 20 minutes. Because for the operation of the line 2 up to eight courses are required, but only six trolleybuses are available, there is regular mixed operation with natural gas buses.

The imported from Czechoslovakia 9TR were the only trolleybuses, which enabled the manufacturer to sell Skoda in the Cold War to Western Europe. They were in use until 1986, 302 and 306 have been preserved as a museum car. Also in the museum's collection is one of the four Volvo / Hess solo bus.

Already in 1997, resigned 6701, the first of the three duo - buses after a fire from inventory. 6702 car was recently equipped with a device for the Fahrleitungsenteisung before he was designated as a spare parts source in winter 2010/2011 and later scrapped. 6703 was last used only in diesel mode, since the switch to electric drive was no longer functional. In January 2012, he was for sale.

The current vehicles bearing the names of Bergen personalities, which are respectively above the windshield and on the edge of the roof of the trailer: Hans Wiers -Jensen ( 6334 ), Sofus Madsen ( 6335 ), Kristofer Janson ( 6336 ), Gerhard Gran ( 6337 ) Nordahl Rolfsen ( 6338 ) and Adolph Berg ( 6339 ).
