Trollkyrka

The Trollkyrka (Troll Church ) is a secluded rock in the heart of the Swedish National Parks Tivedens. He served as a pagan sacrificial site ( horgr, harg, see also Hag ). The Troll Church could have been in use until the 19th century, by then in any case was the mountain as Christians taboo.

According to H. Lidman ( Gudanatt. 1972) which was rumored among old people that "Christians could not go here. The mountains of the Troll Church ' were among the heathen trolls. Should a Christian venture here, he would be damaged. "

Local tradition is to actually see that the mountain until a short time ago for pagan rituals has been in use and that anyone who observed the rituals unbidden, was buried in a hole in the woods or incorporated into the knit community either. These precautions prove that the rituals must have taken place up to the time around 1604-1735, a time when the These kinds rituals were punishable by death.

The rituals are described in a folk poem which (* 1941) has been documented in the course of his research on the Skaga Church by the folklorists Carlshult. It was later published by Karlsson and Lidman:
