Trolltunga

The Troll's Tongue ( German ' troll tongue " ) is a horizontal ledge in Norway, located approximately ten kilometers northeast of Odda at Bosvik. This rock is an approximately 10 meter long nose that tapers to a height of five meters at its beginning a few centimeters at the top. The ledge is located about 700 meters above the artificial reservoir Ringedalsvatnet.

To achieve Troll's Tongue, traveling from Odda direction Kinsarvik on the RV 13 to Tyssedal; there turn right towards Skjeggedal. The most convenient way to reach Troll's Tongue, was the Mågeliban, a circulating since 1911 funicular. This path, however, since 2004 due to technical problems no longer in operation. Therefore, it is currently the only possibility of ascent on foot. This can be done either the steep increase in altitude climb right next to the train with 2,551 steps or the right of the train making a marked footpath. On the hill, it then goes on a hiking trail, which passes to the next rising between some houses. There is along a mountain saddle at an elevated level with some small lakes and streams. From there, the path leads - actually only path (marked with red T's ) - proceed to Troll's Tongue. The road from the cable car up to the parking Troll's Tongue is 11.7 kilometers long, according to GPS; there and back so is a distance of 23.4 km before. On the way there is a hut in which to sleep; it is managed by the Norwegian Trekking Association, however, is out of service since 2013. In addition there is a climbing wall on the mountain, on which you can also reach the ledge.
