Tronzano Lago Maggiore

Tronzano Lago Maggiore is a municipality with 250 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of Varese, in the Lombardy region in Italy.

Location and data

Tronzano extends from the hill down to the shores of Lake Maggiore. The place is a member of the mountain commune Comunità Montana Valli del Luinese. The nearby towns are Brissago (Canton Ticino), Cannobio (VB), Maccagno and Pino sulla Sponda del Lago Maggiore.

The old village center is located in the hills; scattered cottages and villas close to the hillside.

Attractions

The old village has been preserved in the typical mountain villages of the Alps architectural style. Worth mentioning is also the location in the hamlet of Bassano Church of Santa Maria Assunta with its Romanesque bell tower.

Business and sports

The town's economy now depends crucially on tourism. On Lake Maggiore prevail on height Tronzano ideal wind conditions for windsurfing and sailing.
