History

Since 1998, met an initiative for a self-managed, non-commercial meeting place in Witten. In March 1999, a shop was rented in building Herbeder road 851.437557.3258 and officially opened in April despite everything. The same shop was used from 1891 by the Witten branch of the German Metalworkers' Federation and during the Weimar Republic of the Witten KPD. The name referred demarcating the conservative Kohl era. A new clubhouse was opened in late August 2006 in the Augusta Road 58. The rooms were previously the club rooms of the Portuguese Cultural Association. After a visit from fire department, planning department and the clerk's office in October 2006 Despite everything was closed. In May 2007, a demonstration and a street party for the re-opening took place.

After a renovation, the Despite everything was re-opened in July 2010. At the opening of a Infoshop was established, which could only be maintained through 2012. In December 2011, the club library opened Gustav Landauer library.

Initiatives
