Troup County, Georgia
The Troup County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is LaGrange.
Geography
The County is located in the west of Georgia, bordering Alabama. It has an area of 1155 square kilometers, of which 83 square kilometers of water surface are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Heard County, Coweta County, Meriwether County and Harris County.
History
Troup County was formed on June 8, 1825 70th County of Georgia from the land of the Creek Indians. It was named after Governor George Troup.

According to the census of 2000, there were 58 779 people in Troup County. Of these, 1,517 people lived in collective centers, the other inhabitants lived in 21,920 households and 15,607 families. The population density was 55 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 65.80 percent White, 31.87 percent Black or African American, 0.16 percent Native American, 0.58 percent Asian, 0.06 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander, and 0.75 percent from other races groups; 0.78 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.71 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 21,920 households out of which 34.6 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 49.1 percent were married couples living together, 17.9 percent were single mothers and 28.8 percent were non-families. 24.9 percent of all households and 10.2 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.12 persons.
27.9 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 9.2 percent between 18 to 24, 28.4 percent between 25 and 44, 21.9 percent between 45 and 64 and 12.6 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 91.0 males statistically every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.7 males.
The median income for a household was $ 35,469, and the median income for a family $ 41,891. Males have a median income of $ 31,863, women $ 22,393. The per capita income was $ 17,626. 12.2 percent of families and 14.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
