The Rivière Trout (in the U.S.: Trout River ) is a left tributary of the Rivière Châteauguay in the U.S. state of New York and the Canadian province of Québec.

River

The river is formed 10 km southeast of Malone at the confluence of its two source rivers East Branch and West Branch Trout River. The Middle Branch Trout River flows about to the East Branch. As Trout River, the river flows in a northerly direction mainly by the Franklin County. It then flows east past Malone, passed the place Constable, takes the Little Trout River on the right side and reached after 35 km, the border with Canada. North of Malone leads the New York State Route 30 along the river. In the regional county municipality of Le Haut -Saint -Laurent in Canada, Quebec Route 138 runs along the Rivière Trout. The river gradually turns to the northeast and flows about 1.5 km south of Huntingdon in the Rivière Châteauguay after a total distance of 55 km. In the lower reaches in Canada are two small dams on the Rivière Trout are: Barrage St. Onge and Barrage Hooker. The river drains an area of 427 km ². Naming

The river was in Canada previously known as Rivière à la Truite (French for "Trout River "). In 1976, the English form of the name Trout was taken.
