Troy Bruins

The Troy Bruins were an American ice hockey franchise in the International Hockey League from Troy, Ohio. The venue for the Bruins was the Hobart Arena.

History

The Troy Bruins were founded in 1951 and from then on played in the International Hockey League. The first coach of the Bruins was Norm McAtee, who managed the club until 1955. He could reach the play -offs with the club and was never replaced in 1955 by Nellie Podolski. He was the first to reach the finals, where to but eliminated in the first round with his team in the season 1958/59. In summer 1959, the club was disbanded.

In the 2008 /09 season, the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL wore specially made Troy Bruins jerseys. These were worn in six games in the Hobart Arena. Subsequently, they were auctioned for a good cause.
