Truchtersheim
Truchtersheim is a commune with 2985 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. On July 15, 1974 Truchtersheim merged with the municipality Behlenheim.
Geography
The municipality is located in the digester Mountain, northwest of Strasbourg agglomeration, and is bordered to the west by the Bach Ruisseau d' Avenheim. Truchtersheim is bordered on the northeast by Reitwiller, to the south and Pfettisheim Wiwersheim and to the west by Schnersheim.
History
The name is of Celtic origin and means Truchtersheim small residence. The name was later extended by home. Truchtersheim was first mentioned in the year 900. The old town is situated in the center of the city.
