Trudy Späth-Schweizer

Gertrude " Trudy " Späth -Schweizer (December 6, 1908 in Riehen, † October 19, 1990 in Basel) was a Swiss politician and the first Swiss woman who was elected to a political authority.

Life

Gertrud Späth -Schweizer, daughter of a farmer and farmer, grew up in Riehen and attended the Women's Labor School in Basel. She then spent five years as head of the ticket and the main office of the Basel Stadttheater. After her marriage she was a housewife and mother as well as a staff member in the operation of the husband.

In 1958, Späth -Schweizer was elected to the Civic Council ( executive branch of the civic community ) of Riehen, where she was employed until 1974. Thus she was the first woman in Switzerland, who worked in a political authority. As a representative of the Civil village Party she was involved primarily in the area of care. She was reformed.
