Reception

Immortals bassist Iscariah (who was not involved in the re-released recordings here ) called the editor of the CD as " some asshole " and True Kings of Norway as a bootleg, which had destroyed the whole idea behind the single; " Anyone out there " most of the work of the band and had " not even the decency to inform us or send us a CD. That's just disrespectful towards us. "

Wolf -Rüdiger Mühlmann from Rock Hard designated the re-release of this out of print, "important components of Nordic Black Metal Art" as meaningful and rewarding as the acquisition. The author of a review in metal.de, which is listed as a former member of the editorial board and not be named, expressed ambivalent sense for this publication:

"Whether they are the true king [ sic] of Norway, was once an open question. At least in the Black Metal band all represented on this collection have a unique position and have the style significantly influenced or even with justified. [ ... ] For many, this collection may be a bit archaic, even seem obsolete, but for nostalgic likely, True Kings Of Norway ' evoke some memory when Black Metal was no sale tag still and the bands still looked authentic.
