Trujillo (state)

Trujillo is a state in western Venezuela, which is located in the Andes. It is bordered on the west by Mérida, Barinas and Apure in the south, to the east by Lara and Falcón and Zulia in the north.

Its area is 7400 km ² and has about 711 400 inhabitants.

It is named after its capital city of Trujillo, which in turn is named after the birthplace of Francisco Pizarro.

The largest city in the state is Valera.
