Trunk Shot

A Trunk shot is a camera setting (English: shot ) in the film, in which the camera in the trunk (English: trunk) of a car is placed and through the open trunk lid is filming the action outside of the boot.

Function

The trunk shot usually involves (for sedans ) a viewpoint from the frog perspective. Such a low angle can have the dramatic function to visualize the superiority of the absorbed from the bottom view out figures.

These psychological attributions do not necessarily apply. The film scholar David Bordwell emphasizes another meaning of the film style. Elements of cinematic representation ( here the camera angle) do not necessarily have a narrative - have function, but can the mere satisfaction of curiosity serve - so the story propellant. This can also apply to the extreme camera angles of the trunk shot.
