Trupanea stellata

Trupanea stellata is a fly from the family of fruit flies ( Tephritidae ).

Features

The flies reach a body length of 1.5 to 3 mm ( males ) and 2.7 to 4.5 mm (females ). The body is mostly black colored and dusted dense bluish gray, and white hairs. The head is yellowish, face, cheeks, jaws and the edges of the compound eyes are whitish. In the male, the third member of the sensors is dark brown, whereas it is yellow in females. The bristles on the body are pale brown, legs yellow. The wings are partially cloudy, partly transparent and have a dark brown, star-shaped spot near the wing tip. Where the veins R2 3 usually lead is a white spot. From the dark stain no radiation lead to the mouths of R4 5 and m. The two cross- veins are brown edged.

Occurrence and life

The animals arrive in East Africa and Europe before to central Asia. The larvae develop in the flower heads of various daisy family (Asteraceae ) and Artemisia.
